Gum Disease
Gum disease, including gingivitis and periodontitis, is a serious infection that can lead to tooth loss. Even more alarming, gum disease has been linked to many systemic diseases. It can ontribute to the development of heart disease, the nation's leading cause of death. It can increase the risk of stroke. It can increase a woman's risk of having a preterm, low birth weight baby. It can pose a serious threat to people whose health is compromised by diabetes, respiratory diseases, or osteoporosis.
